Another great business tool that every business should have is a great looking website.  For your website platform I highly recommend WordPress. They have a large variety of themes to choose from along with a host of plugins that will allow you to make the website all your own.  You can customize it to your taste and wow your audience.  Weebly is another platform, as well as webs, but I think WordPress is perfect for anyone looking to build a nice website.

And of course you will need hosting if you decide to go with WordPress.  Hostgator is awesome and has everything you’ll need to run your site using WordPress.  Bluehost is another great choice to host your website on, you really can’t go wrong with either.  You can research both to see which one will best fit your needs.  You have a lot of options to choose from and with all the great hosting platforms available to you, just make sure you find the one that will give you all the options you’re looking for.

I research everything when it comes to my businesses and I’ve found a lot of great information which can be
overwhelming, but if you just take your time, you’ll be just fine and you’ll carefully choose all the right business tools that will benefit you and your business as you prepare to journey to your work at home destination. It’s a fun time and a great position to be in!

Doing What I Love Almost All The Time!

As a work-at-home mom, I work doing what I love which is designing, writing and always helping someone in some form or capacity.  It is who I am.  It is my heart.  It is my life.

Using my great gifts, amazing abilities and awesome skills, I have journeyed into a whole new world of what it means to work from home.  Work at home, work from home, work for myself.  I am my own boss. I have created my own schedule which means I work when I want to work.  I can take my vacation and lunch breaks at the times I designate without ever having to worry if my schedule will conflict with someone’s else’s schedule.  I am free.  Free to do what I love to do.  Free to implement all my own genius ideas into my own work at home business to make it a wonderful success.  There is no cap on my salary.  There are no limits placed on me and I love constantly building my business to suit and meet my audience’s needs.  This is what I call living life to the fullest.  

So I say all of this to say that now I am embarking, once again, on another new work at home venture.  It is another step on the ladder of my design business; www.cyndisdesignz.com  I am excited and it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for far too long.  I have all systems in place with the exception of one small item.  I just have to get a newer printer before I can open the doors to this business and so I plan to have my new printer soon.  I have to finish doing some research on what printer will best fit my new goals.  

And once again, I am saying all of this to say to you, you highly intelligent and gifted women and moms, If you’re still sitting and looking around and pondering your next move in terms of working for yourself, if you have something that you know people need, don’t waste another second.  Just do it.  It’s easy.  So very easy.  

Hello Moms,

I hope you all are well and I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July holiday.  

My family and I had a spectacular 4th of July this year.

Last week I didn’t have a productive week at all in terms of my businesses.  I was busy preparing for the 4th of July weekend for my family’s cookout on Sunday, July 6th.  Friday, July 4th, I cooked and cleaned just about the entire day, but my husband helped me.  I had him sweeping and cleaning our hardwood floors in the living room.  He swept behind the sofas and he also cleaned the dining rooms floors.  We used part vinegar and water to clean our hardwoods; the vinegar cleans amazingly.  After the floors dried, I had him put varnish down on the floor to give it a beautiful shine.  My cousin uses baby oil to shine her floors, but it is just too slippery and someone could get serious injured when they walk on the high shining floors.  Olive Oil is a good way to shine hardwood floors, but the varnish lasts a long time which means the floors look good for a long time.

After my husband cleaned the living and dining rooms he headed into the bonus room to clean it and that was major work because we have so much stuff jammed in that room.  Once again, he did a wonderful job organizing everything.  It looked like a whole new room when he got finished cleaning it.

After that, I headed into the kitchen where I prepared my potato and seafood salads.  This year, I decided to cut my celery and onions in advance.  I even mixed them altogether adding the mayo, relish and all my seasoning as if I was actually making the salads right then and there.  It’s a lot of work prepping, but I wanted to make things a little easier on myself so I decided to prep earlier than usual.  The only thing that I didn’t add to my potato salad this time was my hard-boiled eggs because one of my son’s friends doesn’t like egg in his potato salad.  Both of my salads tasted incredible; just truly delicious.  I couldn’t believe it myself even though I am an excellent cook. (Lol) I should be on the cooking network with my own cooking show.  I love to cook, bake brownies and peanut butter cookies which is why I cannot wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas to get here.

The Pepperidge Farm Banana Pudding.  Too Good To Be True!

Sunday came and I was still super busy making even more food.  I wanted to be sure that I had more than enough food to feed my guests.  I always make more than enough food because my guests love to take home a plate or two!  My husband and I had to make our way to Giant Supermarket to pickup some last minute items that I needed to make my Pepperidge Farm banana pudding that my husband can’t seem to get enough of.  The banana pudding is out of this world and I have made a vow to make it for my husband every Sunday.  We have to watch out though because this banana pudding is so scrumptious it can pack the pounds on you!  My husband doesn’t have to worry about putting on any weight because he can eat just about anything and not gain an ounce of weight.  

The cookout turned out to be really nice although it was just my two sons’ friends who attended.  My husband and I just enjoyed each other’s company and we had a grand time sitting outback of our home listening to some of the greatest sounds to ever grace the airwaves.  The food was some of the best I had made in a long time in terms of a cookout and my sons’ friends loved everything that I cooked.  From the ribs to burgers, everything that God supplied us with turned out to be absolutely delicious.

Until our next cookout, I’ve got to get busy working again because I miss it and I miss it because I love what I do.  I hope you’re well and are enjoying this season of caring, sharing and giving.

My Work at Home Life

My work at home experience has been awesome.  I have several work from home businesses that I enjoy, but what I love the most is designing.

Being a self-taught designer, I’ve learned a lot about the different elements of my craft and I always welcome learning new and unique things.

Working at home allows me to take my time in terms of creating my brilliant and vibrant masterpieces.  When I design logos for my clients, I try my very best to create a masterpiece that they envision.  I take my time and work to try to get as close as possible to what they tell me from the color scheme all the way to the creation itself.  Being perfectly honest, sometimes, I can piece a design together in a matter of just an hour and sometimes it may take longer depending on the type of logo/design I’ve been asked to make.

Whatever the design is, be it a logo, a personalized keepsake for a birthday, graduation, a special cause or occasion, I work in comfort knowing that because I work for myself, I never have to worry about doing things so fast that the finished product doesn’t represent who I am as a graphic artist.

I was up before the sun this morning. My daughter had sent me a text
asking me to call her when I woke up. When I woke up this morning, it
was around 6:34. My plan was to be walking in the supermarket, again,
by 7 a.m. I got there at exactly 6:53 a.m., but when I got there the
doors were locked on the east end of the market so I made my way down
to the opposite end, grabbed my shopping cart and immediately started
shopping. The first thing that hit me in the face when I entered the
market was Gatorade; 10 for $10. The next thought was my bottomless
pit, son, B.J., but when I got home another thought popped into my
mind; Christmas. I can save these Gatorades for the Christmas season
since I’m expecting a lot of company these will be perfect. Now
looking back, I should have gotten 10 more, but I can go back and get
more before the sale ends. I was right in my thinking because my
daughter was calling me so early in the wee hours of the morning to
ask if she can have company for the Christmas holiday. I told her
that she has to ask her father, but it was fine with me, so I’m
thinking I need to really get moving on my Christmas shopping to
ensure that I have more than enough food and drinks.

I’m shopping away in Giant looking for sales. The store is empty
except for the employees and a few early morning shoppers like myself.
As time went on a few more shoppers came into the store and I guess
they were thinking like I was thinking; get up and get the grocery
shopping finished early so that we can have the day to finish all of
our other tasks on our Saturday-to-do-list. While shopping, I said
good morning to the other shoppers and a few looked at me as if I had
4 heads. I immediately thought to myself as I often have to remind
myself, not everyone is going to be receptive of my heart. I have to
keep telling myself that because I honestly believe that people should
be love and I’m sure some of them are, but I guess I just expect
people to show it as I do, but that’s okay because you never ever know
what people are going through. I smiled at one man and he looked at
me like I was stone out of my mind, but I just pushed on, grateful for
my life.

The people in the market reminded me of something very important
pertaining to my business: I am a business owner and I love to treat
my customers with a smile. I want to make sure that my customers and
potential customers hear and feel my smile. I want the sincerity of
my voice, tone and words ensure their satisfaction not just with my
products, but with me as an individual and business owner. I want them
to know that they can always trust me. I usually earn my customers
trust during our first conversation because sincerity and just being
plain nice is my nature; there is no other way to be. I make sure
that my customers can hear me smile over the phone and they can
picture a smile from me via email. This is extremely vital to my
business and I’m sure you feel the same way and besides this is great
for customer retention so make it a practice to practice superior
customer service skills.

Have you started your own home based company. Is there something
holding you back; maybe you just can’t decide on what business venture
you’d like to tap into. There are tons of work-at-home opportunities
out there, but wouldn’t it make sense to start with your heart. What
I mean by this is simple and really, it is simple, real easy to start
a home business when you start from your heart because your start up
will be your passion. This is the reason you want to start your home
based business because you have a burning passion inside of you and
you know for a fact that you can turn that passion into a profitable
business, but your focus shouldn’t be earning profits, it should be
doing what you love to do.

When I started my home business, I started it because I was laid-off
from a job I despised and I didn’t want to even think about working
for someone else ever again. I didn’t want to carry the burden of
having to go on job interviews and I didn’t want to deal with office
politics. Why do these things that make life so very difficult on a
job even have to come into play. Why can’t we just go to work, do our
jobs and from time-to-time, be heard when we want to implement our own
ideas that we know for a fact will help to make things better for the
company. Instead we are forced to deal with supervisors who think they
have the right to down to you forgetting that you’re as much an adult
as they are and that they have no right to talk to you in such a
disparaging manner or tone. This is unacceptable.

Okay, getting back to what I was saying because I’ll go on and on
forever about working for someone else. I started my own typing and
transcribing business because it was something that I knew had the
potential for me to earn a lot of money. Magic Fingers Secretarial
Service was born and passed away once I discovered it was not my
passion at all. I began to feel like it was a major chore for me to
type dissertations even though I made really good money. At first, I
was thrilled to have started Magic Fingers because I thought typing
was truly my passion, but I realized that owning a home based typing
business was not for me when I discovered the art of design. Now
don’t get me wrong, I love to type, but for myself and I did enjoy it
for as long as it lasted, but when I began creating works of art with
my software program, a fire ignited in me and Cyndi’s Light Work
Designs was founded. It’s amazing how when I began creating my
magnificent masterpieces, I thought to myself, Cynthia, you’ve been
wanting to have your own t-shirt business for the longest and your
design business is the gift God gave you to start your t-shirt
business. Isn’t it awesome how God puts the pieces of the puzzle
together for you out of His love for you.

My desire and initial thoughts were to open an online store to sell my
design on various merchandise. I looked into CafePress and Zazzle.
When I read about the commission, I closed both stores and just laid
dormant for way too long because I just didn’t have the funds to open
a physical store and CafePress and Zazzle were out of the question; my
oh my was I ever wrong. I am one to research and research, but for
some reason, I didn’t research CafePress and Zazzle nearly enough to
know that anyone can have a great online store creating and using
their very own designs. Now I have several stores on both CafePress
and Zazzle; my only regret is that I wish I would have kept them open;
it was a lesson I had to learn. I am growing my stores and I am
loving it. I have to promote my stores to drive traffic, but that’s
not too hard and when you have a business you love, its never hard
work to put in hard work if you know what I mean. I thoroughly enjoy
working all of my businesses and blogs. Its like it just feeds me
because I love to share my stories to be a help and blessing to others
who may be thinking of opening an online store or starting a home
business of their own.

If you want to start a business working in the comfort of your home,
don’t wait another second. What is your passion; what gifts and
talents do you possess that you think would give you the happiness you
desire and that you can use to start and grow your own business.
Think of your passion as a career. You probably have a passion
embedded deep inside and you that you’ve given deep and careful
thought to; well think no more; if you know like I know you need to
just write down your thoughts right now, pen your goals, create a plan
and start your own home based business. If you’ve been equipped with
all the right tools, your business cannot possibly fail.

Working in comfort doesn’t just mean working comfortably in my bedroom slippers.  It means doing things my way.

I’ve set up and built my business on my terms.  I’ve pieced it altogether using my skills and my amazing typing, transcribing, writing and designing abilities.  My schedule revolves around my family’s schedule and my time is my time.

I work when I want to work. I can take my lunch break anytime of the day if I so choose.  I go drive to the market to get the staples that every cupboard needs or to do my weekly grocery shopping.  I can also go on vacation whenever I want to without ever having to worry when someone is going to take the time that I may want. I don’t have to worry about scheduling my vacation around someone’s else’s time.  For me, time is a very precious and special component in my life as well as in my business.

As a business owner working from home, I never ever have to worry about punching a clock.  I have the freedom to do everything my way.  To build my business my way.  I have endless opportunities to incorporate all my own original and brilliant ideas to keep my business soaring for as long as I’m in business.  So all these things mean that I work at home in comfort simply because I do things my way.  There is no limit or salary cap placed on my talents, gifts, skills and abilities.  I get to use every ounce of my talents in a way that will keep my business prospering and in a class by itself.

So you want to work from home.  It’s easier than you could ever imagine and here’s why.

As you sit in your house or apartment, I want you to look around you.  Write down what you see.  Maybe you see a picture hanging on the wall.  Perhaps you see somethings in your kitchen that inspires you.  The cabinet doors.  The refrigerator.  Your precious pearls, your children.  Look at them and think about how precious they are to you.  What do they need?  What can you give them that would be beneficial to them in your eyes, but a lot of fun or educational for them.  Maybe it’s creating some coloring pages or a coloring book.  Maybe you can write a children’s book; a personalized children’s book with your child’s name.  There it is.  The beginning of a great new business venture; a business you can grow and enjoy.  It’s just that easy.
